Sustainable Development Goals: 2015-2030

In September 2015, the 193 Member States of the United Nations adopted a set of 17 ambitious, transformative, integrated and universal goals for global sustainable development, to be achieved by 2030. [I also worked on this very hard for years!]

Planetary Boundaries

Diving deeper for those interested: some complex but significant planet background
Try to see it like this. We are living all together on this fragile planet Earth. Scientists have proposed that once human activity has passed certain thresholds, defined as planetary boundaries, there is a risk of “irreversible and abrupt environmental change”. It has been identified that nine Earth system processes have boundaries that - to the extent that they are not crossed - mark the "safe zone" for the planet or "safe operating space for humanity". However, because of human activities some of these dangerous boundaries have already been crossed, while others are in imminent danger of being crossed. We need to stay within these boundaries.
